Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how BPD Unboxed ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the DataScrub website at datascrub.bpdunboxed.com (the "Service"). For any privacy question, contact us at bpd.unboxed@gmail.com.

2. The data you paste, drop or convert

DataScrub is a client-side tool. When you paste text, drop a file, strip hidden characters, remove duplicate lines, build a table or download a CSV, all of that work is performed by JavaScript running in your browser tab, on your own computer.

• Your content is not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
• We do not log, read, retain, analyse or train anything on your content.
• Files you drag in are read locally by your browser's FileReader; the bytes never leave the machine.
• The CSV you download is generated in your browser's memory and saved directly by your browser.
• Nothing you enter is kept after you close or reload the tab. There is no account and no history.

Because of this design, the Service is suitable for contact lists, internal exports and other material you would not want to paste into a server-side online converter. You can verify this yourself: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works.

3. Information collected automatically

Like every website, the Service is delivered by a web host, and that host records standard technical information in its server logs when your browser requests a page. This typically includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults. It is handled by our hosting provider, Vercel, under its own terms and retention periods.

4. Cookies and local storage

DataScrub's own code sets no cookies. It writes exactly one item to your browser's localStorage: the key datascrub.consent.v1, which records the cookie choice you made so that we do not have to ask again on every page. It holds a single true/false flag and a timestamp, nothing else. It stays on your device, is never transmitted, and you can clear it at any time through your browser or by using Cookie settings below.

Nothing else is written to localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB. In particular, the text you process in the tool is never stored. Any other cookies present on the Service come from the third-party advertising described in section 5.

Storage on this site falls into two groups, one of which is yours to control:

• Strictly necessary — delivering the page and remembering this consent choice. Always active; cannot be switched off.
• Advertising — cookies and device identifiers used by advertising vendors to select and measure ads. This is the only optional category.

Until you make a choice, advertising storage is denied by default. You can review or change your decision at any time with the Cookie settings control, which also appears in the footer of every page.

5. Advertising

The Service is supported by advertising. Third-party advertising vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.

• Advertising vendors receive the technical request data described in section 3. They never receive the content you paste into the tool, because that content is never sent anywhere.

Advertising storage is denied until you consent. We ask before any non-essential advertising cookie is set, declining is as easy as accepting, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the Cookie settings control in the footer. Technically this is implemented with Google Consent Mode v2: ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization all start as denied and are granted only if you say so. analytics_storage also starts denied and stays that way permanently, because as section 6 explains there is no analytics to enable.

6. Analytics

We do not use analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, and no third-party measurement script on this site. We do not count your visit, track which buttons you press, or build any record of how you used the tool. The only usage information that exists is the ordinary server log described in section 3, held by our hosting provider.

Accordingly, analytics_storage is held at denied permanently rather than being offered as a choice. If we ever add analytics, this section will change and you will be asked about it separately before anything is set.

7. What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent personal information.
• We do not build profiles of individual users.
• We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not request names, addresses or payment details.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal information we hold, to object to or restrict its processing, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Because we do not operate accounts and do not receive the content you process, the personal information we hold is limited to the technical log and advertising data described above.

9. International transfers

Our hosting and advertising providers may process the technical data described above on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards permitted by applicable law.

10. Security

The Service is served over HTTPS. The strongest protection here is structural rather than procedural: the data you care about is never transmitted, so it cannot be intercepted in transit or exposed by a breach of our infrastructure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service or to legal requirements. The "last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
